Vanessa Safavi was born in 1980 in Lausanne, Switzerland. She lives and works between Berlin and Switzerland. In her work, Safavi brings together contrasting polarities of cultural concepts and times, signs and materials. Lately, her work has increasingly focused on the body addressing aspects of lifestyle culture, as well as personal narratives by way of materials and props that externalize or cast parts of the body and support corporeal functionality. Her most recent solo exhibition include Amygdala at the Breeder; Athens, Airbags at MOT International; Brussels, Resorts at Kunsthaus Glarus; Switzerland, Les Figures Autonomes at Centre Culturel Suisse; Paris and I wish Blue could be Water at CRAC Alsace; France.
Her work has been exhibited in many group exhibition such as Glasgow Sculpture Studios; Glasgow, Deutsches Architektur Zentrum; Berlin, Kunsthalle Basel and Castello di Rivoli; Turin, among others
